Spiritual Meaning

This is a popular ancient Sanskrit shloka for Lord Shiva, often chanted at the conclusion of an aarti. It describes Shiva as one who is pure white like camphor (Karpur Gauram), the very incarnation of compassion (Karunavataram), and the essence of all creation (Samsara Saram). He is adorned with the king of serpents as his garland (Bhujagendra Haram). The devotee prays to him, who eternally resides in the lotus of the heart (Sada Vasantam Hridayaravinde), and bows down to that Lord Shiva (Bhavam) who is always accompanied by his consort, Goddess Bhavani (Parvati).
