भीम के पौत्र और महान योद्धा बार्बरीक ने महाभारत युद्ध से पूर्व अपना शीश श्रीकृष्ण को अर्पण कर दिया। यह सर्वोच्च समर्पण था। श्रीकृष्ण ने उन्हें आशीर्वाद दिया कि कलियुग में वे 'श्याम' के रूप में पूजित होंगे — जो शीघ्र सुनते हैं, गहराई से प्रेम करते हैं और केवल श्रद्धा माँगते हैं।
