    Life story

Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa was one of India’s most revered mystic saints, whose entire life was a living example of divine realization. Born in a humble Brahmin family near Kolkata, he became the temple priest at Dakshineshwar Kali Temple. There, he plunged into ecstatic devotion to Maa Kali, often entering divine trances that lasted for hours or days. His bhakti was so pure that the goddess was said to respond to him like a mother to her child. Ramakrishna believed that all paths — whether Hinduism, Islam, or Christianity — lead to the same truth. He practiced each with such sincerity that he realized God in every form. He lived in divine bliss, untouched by worldly attachments, yet full of childlike joy and simplicity. His teachings weren’t given through books, but through stories, laughter, and his own life. It was he who saw the spiritual fire in young Vivekananda and guided him to change the world. Sri Ramakrishna didn’t preach — he lived God, and through his being, millions still feel the presence of the Divine.
