Devotee of Lord Vitthal, symbol of seva and filial devotionसंत पुंडलिक को पंढरपुर परंपरा के प्रणेता और सेवा भक्ति के प्रतीक के रूप में पूजा जाता है।
Sant Pundalik is revered as the founder of the Pandharpur tradition and a symbol of pure seva bhakti. Though not a poet-saint like many others, his life itself was a divine message. Once a careless son, Pundalik underwent a deep transformation and devoted himself entirely to the selfless service of his aging parents. Pleased with his unwavering dedication, Lord Vitthal appeared before him, but instead of rushing to greet the divine, Pundalik sent a brick (vitth) and asked the Lord to wait — because he was serving his parents. The Lord, touched by this act, stood on that brick, and thus began the tradition of Vitthal standing with arms akimbo, waiting for his devotee. Pundalik’s story is not just a tale of bhakti — it is a living legend that teaches us that true worship lies in duty, humility, and love. To this day, millions walk to Pandharpur chanting his name, because of the saint who showed that serving one’s parents with devotion is the greatest path to God.
